2 Key Things You Must Do To Connect With Your Prospect

By Clemente | August 21, 2008

I know, I know. I promised to talk about 3 key things in the previous post. But I wanted to try and keep my posts as concise and to the point as possible and the third key component deserves a post all by itself.

Okay so let’s get into it.

Sell Yourself.

When I first got started in network marketing, I was taught by my upline leaders to promote the company, product and compensation plan. I was taught to remove myself from the equation and let the product sell itself and my upline leaders will recruit for me. After learning what it really takes to be successful in this industry, I discovered that I needed to do the direct opposite. You have to sell yourself before even thinking about selling your opportunity. What I mean by selling yourself is showing your ability to help your prospect get what they want. This builds your perceived value as well as credibility.

Approximately 80% of your prospect’s decision is based on YOU and the VALUE you give to them. If you haven’t become a valuable source to the prospect then bringing up the company is irrelevant. They are looking to go into business with you and they will only do that if they feel you can help them.

Sell Your Marketing System

Prospects are more concerned about the how. How is this going to work? If you are able to show them the way you do business and they are able to see how it can help them reach there goals, then you will stand out amongst the competition and your prospect will be much more eager to go into business with you. Show them how they can get leads, how they can turn those leads into hot prospects, how they can turn those hot prospects into distributors and customers, how they can turn distributors and customers into multiple streams of income , and how they can create duplication on there growing team. Show them how you’re going to walk them through and show them step by step how your system works.

Prospects want to go into business with someone that can grab them by the hand and show them how to do business and get what they want. Do you have an effective marketing system in place? If so, then sell they way in which you do business. By offering them an effective marketing system, you’re giving them so much more than just a biz opp.

McDonald’s is the most successful and profitable company in the fast food industry not because they have the best burgers, fries, and shakes. It’s because they have the best system in place. (Quite frankly, I prefer Wendy’s or Burger King but I always seem to end up at a McDonald’s).

So how do we accomplish those 2 key things? There is an effective way to do it. In the next post I will talk about this most effective way. I can guarantee you that it’s NOT through traditional sales methods.

What Is Network Marketing.…Really?

By Clemente | August 19, 2008

Perspective: Network Marketing is nothing more than a means to an end…that’s it.

If you are wondering why it’s so difficult to convince people to see your business opportunity and join you in business, it’s because people don’t really care about your opportunity in and of itself. They don’t want a business opportunity. They want a solution.

This is why you shouldn’t push your opportunity on people but instead, present to them a solution to their problems with your opportunity being a part of it. This is where network marketers began to stroll down the road to failure from the start because their focus and mindset is not to solve people’s problems. They just want to sell their business opportunity as quickly as possible.

You must take the time to connect with your prospect. Show them that you have a real solution for them. Show them HOW your solution will help them get what they want. Are you willing to show them how to build a successful business before even starting one? That is where you build trust, friendship, and credibility. People become hesitant when there is uncertainty and risk which is why people procrastinate with getting started in business because they just don’t know if it will work and they don’t want to get screwed.

Once you have a clear solution in front of them, they are ready to start building.

To accomplish this there are 3 key things you must do:

  1. Sell You and your abilities to help them get what they want.

  1. Sell your marketing system, the way you do business.

  1. Do it through educational marketing, Not traditional sales methods.

In tomorrows post I will discuss those 3 components, and how you can start that shift in strategic direction that will give you immediate results.

Til next time J

What Your Prospects Are Buying

By Clemente | August 13, 2008

Like I said before, nobody really buys anything for what it is. The only reason your prospect would even take the time to look at your opportunity is because of what it will do for them or what problems it will solve for them.

People Buy Solutions, Not Products or Business Opportunities.

While we are spending our time with them telling them how great the company, the product, and the compensation plan is, we fail to find out what the prospect really wants and to help them to see how our opportunity can help them get what they want. You can tell them about your success with the company and all about the successful people in the company, but your prospect is asking the one burning question actually two:

“What’s in it for me” and “Why should I go into business with you”

And boy you better have a darn good answer or you will lose the prospect. They want you to give them the HOW on how you and your opportunity will solve them problems. Almost everything you’ve ever bought was about solving a problem. Anyone who has every gained wealth did do by solving other people’s problems. That is the hidden key in MLM people is willing to pay money for solutions.

So what are you really selling? You got it, a solution! Not a business opportunity.

Nobody just decides out of the blue that they want to be a network marketing distributor and it definitely wasn’t a life-long dream. If they could find a solution through means other than network marketing, they would utilize it. They just happen to hear that network marketing is a good vehicle for getting what they want.

You must market the benefits of your opportunity and products and answer those questions that your prospect has in the back of their minds:

“What’s in it for me?” and “Why should I go into business with you?”

Next time we will talk about how to answer those questions :-)

We Need Prospects to Come to Us Instead of Chasing Them Down.

By Clemente | August 12, 2008

How does this happen?

In the typical marketer to prospect relationship, it is always assumed that the marketer should be the one pursuing and persuading the prospect to buy their products or join them in business. It almost seems unrealistic to have a business where you have prospects pursuing you the marketer and trying to convince you of why you should sponsor them into your network marketing business.

It is not unrealistic at all. In fact, it really is the only effective way to sponsor new distributors consistently and making it look effortless. In network marketing and MLM, it is all about the prospect and what they are looking to buy. It is important that you understand what you are really selling and make sure it is what prospects are buying.

So, what are you really selling?

Most networkers approach the industry as if they are selling a business opportunity, so their only focus is to pitch their opportunity to everyone, everywhere, all the time. The reason no one’s joining is, they are not looking to buy the latest and greatest business opportunity. In fact, most people are terrified of having their own business. People have dreams as young children of what they want to be when they grow up. We even have dreams and aspirations as adults and I can guarantee you, no one was dreaming about becoming a network marketing distributor. Before I understood this, I was approaching people with my business opportunity as if it was the answer to their dreams and failed miserably.

Think about this.

Someone who buy’s the latest home fitness program, doesn’t buy it because its good to have or because they saw a great infomercial on the product. The guys might buy it because they really want to walk on the beach next summer with their shirt off and not be embarrassed or be able to keep up with the younger guys on the basketball court. The ladies might want be able to fit into their favorite dress.

Someone who buys a box of laundry detergent doesn’t buy it just to have a nice

big box of Tide on the shelf. They bought it because they had dirty clothes

(problem) they wanted to wash (solution).

So, in the same way, people don’t want your opportunity for what it is; they want

the benefits your opportunity can provide. Your opportunity is a tool to help them

get what they want.

People have problems whether its financial, freedom, debt or free time with the kids  and they just happen to here the network marketing is a good vehicle to help solve their problems and get what they really want. Therefore, you must market to people what a business opportunity will do for them, instead on focus on how great your company and product is.

People will only come to you if you are selling what they are buying. Market what people are buying and watch them join you in bunches.

What are people really buying? It is definitely not a business opportunity.

We’ll dive into this tomorrow. :).
